Spoil Dad with a delicious Father’s Day breakfast

Father’s Day is all about looking after Dads, Grandads and other important people in our lives. What better way to do that than by sharing a delicious hearty breakfast?  But before you get out the sausages and bacon, why not think about making Dad feel special with some ‘everyday' foods that will get him feeling nourished and energised.

For schools and services putting on a Father’s Day breakfast, try the following ideas:

Warm apple porridge

Ingredients:

  • 4 apples, peeled and grated
  • 160g rolled oats
  • 480mL reduced fat milk
  • 380mL water
  • 5 apples, peeled and grated
  • 200g rolled oats
  • 600mL reduced fat milk
  • 475mL water
  • 12 apples, peeled and grated
  • 500g rolled oats
  • 1.5L reduced fat milk
  • 1.2L water
  • 25 apples, peeled and grated
  • 1kg rolled oats
  • 3L reduced fat milk
  • 2.4L water

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients into a large saucepan and place on the stove on medium heat.
  2. Stir the mixture continuously until the oats are cooked.
  3. Divide the porridge into bowls and serve.
